ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Jodhpur is one of the 11 ICAR-ATARIs formerly known as Zonal Project Directorates (ZPDs) functioning under Division of Agricultural Extension. ICAR has established a vast network of KVKs all over the country under the administrative control of various ICAR institutes, State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), State Department of Agriculture, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other institutes for implementing the central governmental projects/schemes. In the Zone, 7 Agricultural Technology Information Centres (ATICs) are working for delivering the “Single Window” delivery system. Since, Zonal Project Directorate has been elevated as ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), the mandates of ICAR-ATARI has also been changed where socio-economic research is one of the integral components.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Keshwana functioning since July,1985.This KVK is enriched with all basic facilities like Building, Farmer’s hostels Demonstration units including Fruit plant Caffeteria,Azolla Unit, Poly house and ber orchard, Soil Testing Lab, Plant Health Clinic. The instructional area of farm 62.0hectare land, out of which 42.0hectare land under cultivation.

Thrust Areas

To improve productivity of crops through

*Improve technology under dry land technology.

*Introduction of improved varieties, chemicals/Bio fertilizers, line showing & other cultural practices.

Popularization of IPM, INM, IWM & organic farming among farmers.

Introduction to drudgery reducing measures in agriculture and animal husbandry activities especially for women through improvement in health, hygiene and nutrition status of rural families and formation of Self Help Groups.

Regular training and demonstration for transfer technology in commercial crops.

Increase water use efficiency through moisture conservation and pressurized irrigation.

Improvement in local breeds of Large and small ruminants through scientific breeding, AI, feeding and management.

Dissemination of Hi-tech production technology of horticulture crops including emphasis on micro irrigation and protected cultivation technology.

To empower rural women for improve quality life focusing on awreness knowledge, practices and economic empowerment.

KVK, Jalore organized a farmer fair under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Youjana (PMFBY) programme on 4th April, 2016 at KVK, Keshwana, Jalore. A huge number of farmers including farm women, progressive farmers, Extension functionaries (1000) and Officials of line department were participated.

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra celebrate and conduct awareness programme on International Yoga day (21st June), World food day (16th October), World soil day celebration (5th December) during each year. Also conduct two preseasonal training programme, SAC meeting and other awareness programme for farmers, Farm women and Rural youth during every year.
